VANUATU INTERACTIVE GAMING
(AMENDMENT) ACT NO. 49 OF 2000

An Act to amend the Vanuatu Interactive Gaming Act No. 16 of 2000

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1 Amendments

The Vanuatu Interactive Gaming Act No. 16 of 2000 is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

Schedule

Amendments of the Vanuatu Interactive Gaming Act No. 16 of 2000

1. Paragraph 4(1)(a)
   

Before “company”, insert “local”.

2. Subsection 8(2)
   

Delete “3”, substitute “15”.

3 At the end of section 8

Add

“(7) Subject to subsection (2), the Minister may, by notice in writing to a licensee, extend the term of a licence:

(a) issued under section 5 before the commencement of this subsection; or

(b) mentioned in section 7(2).”.

4 After paragraph 11(1)(b)

Insert

“(ba) the licence fee prescribed under section 9 is not paid on or before the due date; or”.

(AMENDMENT) ACT NO. 49 of 2000

Explanatory Note

The Bill amends the Vanuatu Interactive Gaming Act No. 16 of 2000.

Item 1 of the Schedule amends section 4 to confirm that only local companies can be granted licences. Item 2 of the Schedule increases the maximum period of a licence from 3 years to 15 years. Item 3 of the Schedule gives the Minister power to extend the term of an existing licence. Item 4 of the Schedule provides for a licence to be suspended or revoked if the licence fee is not paid by the due date.
