To amend the South Pacific Centre For International Relations Act No. 14 of 1983.

BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:-

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 8 OF ACT No. 14 OF 1983

1. Section 8 of the South Pacific Centre for International Relations Act No. 14 of 1933 is amended by repealing subsections (1) and (2) of that Section and substituting the following subsections:-

"(1) The Minister may, after consultation with the Council, appoint subject to subsection (2) and upon such terms and conditions as he may think fit, a Director who shall be the employee of the Centre.

(2) The Director who shall be the chief executive and administrative officer of the Centre, shall be appointed for a term not exceeding five years and may be eligible for re-appointment."

COMMENCEMENT

2. This Act shall come into force on the date of its publication on the Gazette.
