REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE AMENDMENT ACT
NO. 20 OF 2001

An act to amend the Representation of the People Act [CAP 146]

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1. Amendments

The Representation of the People Act [CAP 146] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2. Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is assented to by the President.

AMENDMENTS OF THE
REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE ACT [CAP 146]

1. Subsection 20(2)

Delete “Having”, substitute “Subject to subsection (2A), having”

2. After subsection 20(2)

Insert

“(2A) The Principal Electoral Officer must establish the electoral roll for each polling district for the general election in 2002 on the 26^th day of November 2001.”.

Explanatory Note

The Bill amends section 20 of the Representation of the People Act to provide that the electoral roll for each polling district is to be established on 26 November 2001 for the 2002 general election. This Act commences on the day on which it is assented to by the President.
