An Act to amend the Penal Code Act No. 17 of 1981.

BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:-

AMENDMENT OF ACT No. 17 OF 1981

1. The Penal Code Act No. 17 of 1981 as amended from time to time is further amended as follows:-

(a) in subsection (1) of section 52 by substituting the word and figure "VT 50" for "VT 500";

(b) in subsection (1) of section 65 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for 15 years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for two years";

(c) in subsection (1) of section 66 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for 15 years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for two years";

(d) in section 69 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for three years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for one year";

(e) in section 70 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for 10 years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for five years";

(f) in section 71 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for five years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for one year";

(g) in section 72 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for five years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for one year";

(h) in section 81 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for seven years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for two years";

(i) in subsection (1) of section 82 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for five years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for three months";

(j) in section 87 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for seven years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for two years";

(k) in section 114 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for five years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for one year";

(l) in section 115 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for 15 years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for seven years";

(m) in section 118 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for 10 years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for three years";

(n) in section 120 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for three years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for six months";

(o) in section 121 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for three years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for three months";

(p) in section 132 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for fifteen years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for five years";

(q) in section 137 by substituting the words "Penalty: Imprisonment for twenty five years" for "Penalty: Imprisonment for twenty years''.

COMMENCEMENT

2. This Act shall come into force on the day of its publication in the Gazette.
