2. Amendment of Section 6 of the Principal Act.
3. Commencement.

THE MINIMUM WAGE AND MINIMUM WAGES BOARD

(AMENDMENT) ACT NO. 4 OF 1987

An Act to amend the Minimum Wage and Minimum Wages Board Act, No.42 of 1984.

BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:-

1. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 5 OF ACT NO.42 OF 1984

Section 5 of the Minimum Wage and Minimum Wages Board Act, No.42 of 1984 (principal Act) is amended by the insertion immediately after subsection (3) of that section, the following new subsection:-

"(4). The Minister may, if he thinks that any member of the Board has failed to contribute constructively towards the better performance of the functions of the Board, terminate the appointment of such member to the Board."

2. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 6 OF THE PRINCIPAL ACT

Section 6 of the principal Act is amended by the repeal of subsection (1) of that section and the substitution therefor, of the following subsection:

"(1). The Minister shall appoint as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively, two members of the Board who in the opinion of the Minister have the capacity to perform effectively the functions of their office."

3. COMMENCEMENT

This Act shall come into force on the day of its publication in the Gazette.
