(AMENDMENT) ACT
NO. 28 OF 2003

An Act to amend the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Vanuatu Act No. 4 of 1995.

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows:

1 Amendment

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Vanuatu Act No. 4 of 1995 is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on 01 January 2004.

AMENDMENTS OF THE CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF VANUATU ACT NO. 4 OF 1995

1 Section 7

Delete "2000" insert "2004".

2 Section 7

Delete "fifteen percent (15%)" insert "ten percent (10%)".

2A After subsection 7(3)

Insert

"(4) A reference to business licence fees under subsection (1) does not include any turn over payable under class F in Schedule 1 of the Business Licence Act No. 19 of 1998."

3 After section 21

Insert

"21A General Manager of Chambers

(1) The General Manager of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Vanuatu is to be appointed by the Minister after consultation with the National Council.

(2) The General Manager is to be appointed on merit.

(3) The appointment is not to exceed 2 years and a person is eligible for reappointment.

(4) The other terms and condition of appointment are to be provided for in a contract to be entered into by the Minister and the General Manager."
