JOINT COURT OF THE NEW HEBRIDES
Judgment No. 745

This is an evocation of judgment No. 207 given by the Court of First Instance, Central District No. 1, on 21st December 1944, which sentenced Alexandre RENEVIER to eight days imprisonment, and a fine of five hundred francs, for breach of Article 59 of the Anglo-French Protocol of 6th August 1914.
Although properly summoned to appear by summons dated 12th November one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, there was no appearance by the accused nor by any person on his behalf.
The Public Prosecutor addressed the Court which then retired to consider its judgment.
JUDGMENT.
It is shown by the evidence on record, particularly judgment No. 207 of the Court of First Instance, Central District No. 1, that the accused is guilty of having at Vila on 16th. December 1944 sold or supplied two bottles of wine to the Mélé natives KALPAS and WATLEY, this constituting two breaches of the provisions of Article 59 of the 1914 Convention and punishable according to the provisions of Article 61, paragraph 1, of the same Convention.
ON THESE GROUNDS,
The accused is convicted by default and is sentenced to eight days imprisonment and a fine of Five hundred francs, with costs.
At the request of the Public Prosecutor, it is ordered that the terms of this present judgment be communicated to the accused.
