Public Prosecutor v Smith [1912] VUNHJC 19; Criminal 60 (19 June 1912)

In the matter of a charge against Samuel Smith of the hulk "Titus" of Vila


This nineteenth day of July 1912


The above named Samuel Smith stands convicted in default of appearance before the Joint Court, for that on the 22nd June 1912 at Vila in the New Hebrides he did supply two glasses of gin to Kaltong, a native of the New Hebrides and one of gin to Daisy and Harry, natives of the New Hebrides, contrary to the provisions of Article LIX of the Anglo-French Convention, of October 1906.

Thereupon the Joint Court sentences the said Samuel Smith for his said offence to pay a fine of two pounds (£2) and the costs of the prosecution.

The said sum of two pounds (£2) and costs are to be paid into the Condominium Treasury forthwith.
