JUDGMENT

[CRIMINAL LAW - PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE - Judges Rules]

The Judges Rules do not apply to Vanuatu. There is nothing in our legislation to intimate that the Court here is to be guided in any way by such Rules. I consider they are Rules especially drafted for guidance of the English Court

I rule that the statements made by the accused, if voluntary and made without any inducement, threats or promises are admissible in evidence in this case.

18 March 1987

FREDERICK G. COOKE
CHIEF JUSTICE
