Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Sea Boundaries (Amendment) Act 2019.

2 Commencement

This Act commences upon certification by the Speaker.

3 Amendment of the Sea Boundaries Act 1997

The Sea Boundaries Act 1997 is amended by the provisions of this Act.

4 Amendment of Section 9

Section 9(1) is amended by deleting the words “and exclusive economic zone” and substituting “, exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf”.

The clause now reads:

‘(1) The President may, by Proclamation, declare the baseline, and other lines drawn under the provisions of this Act for the purpose of determining the limits of the internal waters, territorial sea, contiguous zone, exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf, by means of a list of the geographical coordinates of points, specifying the geodetic datum.’
