AN ACT
To repeal the Fourth Schedule to the Liquor Ordinance 1967 and to replace it with a new Fourth Schedule so as to provide for increased fees to be payable.

Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:
SHORT TITLE
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Liquor Ordinance (Amendment) Act 1997.
(2) The Liquor Ordinance 1967 as amended by this Act may be cited as the Liquor Act 1967-1997.
COMMENCEMENT
2. This Act shall come into force with immediate effect.
AMENDMENT OF THE FOURTH SCHEDULE TO THE LIQUOR ORDINANCE 1967
3. The Fourth Schedule to the Liquor Ordinance 1967 is repealed and replaced with the following new Fourth Schedule, namely:-
"FOURTH SCHEDULE
Section 59
Scale of Fees Payable to the Registrar on Making Application
| 1. Grant or renewal of Liquor Retailer's Licence | $1,000.00 per annum |
| 2. Grant or renewal of Tavern Licence | $1,000.00 per annum |
| 3. Grant or renewal of Restaurant Licence | $200.00 per annum |
| 4. Grant or renewal of Club Licence | $200.00 per annum |
| 5. Grant of Extended Hours Permit | $20.00 |
| 6. Transfer or removal of licence or alteration of limits of licensed premises | $5.00 |
| 7. Grant of Function Permit | $10.00 |
| 8. Any other application | $20.00" |
OBJECTS AND REASONS
THE SCALE OF FEES PAYABLE TO THE REGISTRAR ON MAKING APPLICATIONS IN RESPECT OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF LICENCES UNDER THE LIQUOR ORDINANCE 1967 WAS LAID DOWN IN 1967 AND SINCE THEN THE SAME SCALE HAS CONTINUED WHICH ARE PRESENTLY APPLICABLE AS UNDER:

Scale of Fees Payable to the Registrar on Making Application.
| 1. Grant of renewal of Liquor Retailer's Licence | $80.00 per annum |
| 2. Grant or renewal of Tavern Licence | $40.00 per annum |
| 3. Grant or renewal of Restaurant Licence | $20.00 per annum |
| 4. Grant or renewal of Club Licence | $40.00 per annum |
| 5. Grant of Extended Hours Permit | $5.00 |
| 6. Transfer or removal of licence or alteration of limits of licensed premises | $5.00 |
| 7. Grant of Function Permit | $2.00 |
| 8. Any other application | $2.00" |
| 6. Transfer or removal of licence or alteration of limits of licensed premises | $20.00 |
| 7. Grant of Function Permit | $10.00 |
| 8. Any other application | $20.00 |
