To amend the Births, Deaths and Marriages Ordinance 1957-1967
(Certified: 15 October 2009)
Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Births, Deaths and Marriages (Amendment) Act 2009.
(2) This Act shall come into force on the date on which it receives the certificate of the Speaker.
2. (1)The Births, Deaths and Marriages Ordinance 1957-1967 is the principal Act.
(2) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Births, Deaths and Marriages Act 1957-2009.
Amendment of section 5 of the principal Act
3. Section 5 of the principal Act is amended by deleting from subsection (2) the words ‘The Official Secretary to the Administration shall be ex officio’ and replacing them with the words ‘The President shall appoint a public officer to be’.
