An Act to amend the Salaries of Judges Act 1969

(20 December 1973

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session Assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the Salaries of Judges Amendment Act 1973 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Salaries of Judges Act 1969 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

2. Salary of the Chief Judge of the High Court - Section 2 of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words "rate of eight thousand six hundred and sixty-four dollars" and substituting the words "rates as set forth in the First Column of the First Schedule hereto, which shall be payable on and from the dates set forth in the Second Column of the Schedule hereto."

3. Salary of Commissioner of the Land Court - The principal Act is hereby amended-by adding after section 2 of the principal Act the following new section:-

"3. Salary of Commissioner of the Land Court - There shall be paid to any Commissioner of the Land Court of the Cook Islands possessing and exercising all the functions of a Judge of the Land Court but excluding those vested exclusively in the Chief Judge of that Court, and being a person not concurrently holding any office under the Cook Islands Public Service and receiving remuneration therefor a salary at the rates set forth in the First Column of the Second Schedule hereto, which shall be payable on and from the dates set forth in the Second Column of the Second Schedule hereto, and such further sums and allowances as the Executive Council may from time to time decree."

4. Schedules added - The Principal Act is hereby amended by adding a first and second schedule as follows-
