An Act to amend the Post Office Act 1959
(11 June 1991
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:
1. Short Title and commencement - (1) This Act may be cited as the Post Office Amendment Act 1991 and shall be read with and deemed part of the Post Office Act 1959 (herein referred to as the "principal Act").
(2) This Act shall come into force on a date to be appointed by the Postmaster-General by notice in the Gazette.
2. Post Office Act 1959 amended - (1) The enactments referred to in the first column of the First Schedule are amended in the manner set out in the second column of that Schedule.
(2) The enactments referred to in the Second Schedule are repealed.
3. Employees of Post Office to be public servants - Every employee of the Post Office shall be a public servant deemed to have been employed under the provisions of the Public Service Act 1975.
4. Savings - Without limiting the provisions of the Acts Interpretation Act 1924, the repeal of any provision by this Act shall not affect any document made or anything whatsoever done under the provisions so repealed or under any corresponding former provision, and every such document or thing, so far as it is subsisting or in force at the time of the repeal and could have been made or done under the provision so repealed, shall continue and have effect as if the provision repealed had not been repealed.
