An Act to amend the Ombudsman Act 1984 to remove compulsory retirement for the Ombudsman at the age of 72.

The Parliament of the Cook Islands enacts as follows—

1 Title

This Act is the Ombudsman Amendment Act 2022.

2 Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it is assented to by the Queen’s Representative.

3 Principal Act amended

This Act amends the Ombudsman Act 1984.

4 Section 5 amended (Term of office of Ombudsman)

In section 5(3) omit “, and shall so resign his office on attaining the age of 72 years”.
