An Act to amend the Arbitration Amendment Act 2014

The Parliament of the Cook Islands enacts as follows-

1 Title

This Act is the Arbitration Amendment (No.2) Act 2014.

2 Commencement

(1) This Act comes into force on the day after the day on which it receives the assent of the Queen's Representative.

(2) Despite subsection (1) section 5 is deemed to have come into force on 9th April 2014.

3 Principal Act amended

This Act amends the Arbitration Amendment Act 2014.

4 Section 1 amended

Section 1 is amended by substituting the following section:

"Title

This Act is the Arbitration Act 2014."

(2) For the avoidance of doubt, a reference to the Arbitration Amendment Act 2014 in an enactment or arbitration agreement whether made before or after the commencement of this Act is a reference to the Arbitration Act 2014.

5 Section 19 amended

Section 19 is repealed and the following section is substituted—

"Arbitration Act 2009 repealed

(1) The Arbitration Act 2009 is repealed.

(2) For the avoidance of doubt, the enactments specified in Schedule 5 cease to have effect as part of the law of the Cook Islands."

6 Section 20 is amended

Section 20(1)(b) is amended by inserting the words "or the Arbitration Act 2009" after the words "Arbitration Act 1908".

7 Section 21 is amended

Section 21 is amended by inserting the words "and the Arbitration Act 2009" after the words "New Zealand".
